I ONCE KNEW SOMEONE

I once knew someone caught up in a race
With his mind and a lady of another face.

He loved this lady so very much.
She had the gift of a special touch.

He tried to reach for her one day,
But she was above him and so far away.

Though he thought himself the incarnate of love
And able to rise to the heavens above,

His wishes and dreams of her touch and her face,
Were unanswered in daylight, time's tears to erase.
